Vision therapists at our practice play a vital role in implementing therapeutic activities prescribed by our optometrists to treat various visual impairments. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care, excellent communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for helping others overcome visual challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Therapeutic Guidance:

  • Guide patients through prescribed therapeutic activities.
  • Prepare and manage the equipment necessary for treatment activities.
  • Motivate, instruct, evaluate, and monitor patients during therapy sessions.

Patient Interaction:

  • Establish and maintain a positive rapport with patients and their families.
  • Communicate effectively and empathically to motivate patients throughout their treatment process.
  • Share progress milestones with patients or their parents, enhancing their engagement and satisfaction with the therapy.

Operational Support:

  • Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of therapy instruments and materials.
  • Support patients and families in carrying out home therapy activities.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical duties and maintain accurate patient records.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is required; a degree in psychology, education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with educational therapies’ standard concepts, practices, and procedures is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to learn the specifics of vision therapy.
  • Excellent motivational skills and the ability to engage patients positively and empathetically.
  • Ability to work compassionately with individuals having diverse educational and emotional needs.
  • Basic administrative skills to handle clerical and organizational tasks efficiently.
